Everytime i get to new SharePoint 2007 server for development of new features for old sites, i’m always seems to run into this error message after some time:
Trial Version Has Expired
I then i have to search for the correct solution. So thats why i create this post, to remember it next time. Because this error seems to many ways to be corrected. But the following has always been the resolution for me.
It occurs sometime after you have installed SP2 for SharePoint 2007. Service Pack 2 sets the expiration date incorrectly, so 180 days after installing service pack 2, your server licens will expire. Even though you have a valid serial.
But fortunately Microsoft has admitted to error, and found a solution. Just download an update to your version of SharePoint 2007, and run it. Then after a reboot, everything is working again.
